Friends of the Retreat House - 90th Anniversary celebration

  • The Diocesan House Of Retreat The Street CM3 1HA United Kingdom (map)

Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Friends of the Retreat House.

In 1932, Lucy Menzies, Warden of the House and a friend of Evelyn Underhill, founded The Friends who, to this day, continue to play a very important and vital part in the ministry of our House of Retreat. This therefore means that 2022 is our 90th anniversary!

To commemorate this, on Saturday 11th June we will be holding a celebration at the House to which all are invited. The day will begin with refreshments being served from 9.30 am. This event is free to attend, although donations towards the work of the House would be greatly appreciated.

It is also the weekend retreat of the Friends led by Canon John Howden, a former Warden at the House, and there are still places available. John will lead us throughout Saturday and we will have a festive Eucharist and conclude the afternoon with tea and cake.

This is an opportunity to meet with one another again and share memories of what the Friends mean to us and we do hope you feel able to join us either for a day or the weekend.

Book your free ticket below.
