A quiet day for those engaged in or wanting to explore workplace ministry.
Led by Ven Jonathan Croucher - reflecting on the unique opportunities for mission and ministry in the secular world of work, exploring the challenges and reflecting on how we resource and renew ourselves as disciples in the world of work.
With space for reflection together and alone we will draw on scripture and sacred and secular music as we consider theologically the nature of work, the diverse ways we offer ministry and its challenges, and how we see ourselves as ‘bridgers of gaps’.
Jonathan Croucher is the Archdeacon of Chelmsford. He was ordained in 2004 whilst working as a partner and then Chief Operating Officer in the London offices of a European Law Firm. He left the firm in 2011 to move full time parish ministry. For eight years he was co-chair of the Diocese of Southwark’s Advisory Group on non-stipendiary ministry which published a report in 2012 which highlighted the need to recognise, endorse and support the ministry of those who serve in secular work environments beyond chaplaincy. Until 2023 he was Chair of Trustees of St Augustine’s College of Theology which trains large numbers of lay and ordained ministers who will serve in secular roles.
The day can be combined with an overnight stay or two at the House. If you would like this please contact the Retreat House direct 01245 237251.
