Autumn Seasonal Retreat - In the season of ‘misty fruitfulness’ a retreat time to step aside and enjoy God’s creation.
Led by Rev John Howden. A time apart from daily life - to worship and explore John Keats Ode to Autumn and Psalm 84. Time to glory in the autumn colours in rural Essex and time to re-discover God’s purpose for us in a changing and troubled world.
John was born of missionary parents in Iran. Trained as an architect in London and became a scenic artist and costume designer in the professional theatre. Offered for Ordination and after 2 curacies joined the BBC as a journalist, broadcaster and trainer of radio staff. Came back to parish ministry for 19 years that included 9 years as Warden of Pleshey. In retirement he makes films, paint and draw, love jazz and red wine, the company of family and friends and a good laugh.
