John the Baptist - Harbinger of Hope
Led by Ven Vanessa Herrick. John the Baptist has been described as ‘the epitome of Advent’ – a figure in whom the past and future meet in an explosive message for the present. On this quiet day, through reflection on the Scriptures, and also through music, art and poetry, we shall explore together the message of this most enigmatic of biblical characters for our present, and for the present world in which we live.
Vanessa retired as Archdeacon of Harlow in March 2023 and now lives in Suffolk. A former Director of Ordinands, parish priest, university chaplain and theological educator, Vanessa enjoys helping others to connect with God through retreats, quiet days and in spiritual direction. She also loves the company of friends over a good meal, as well as walking, cooking, travel and watching international rugby and cricket.
The day can be combined with an overnight stay or two at the House. If you would like this please contact the Retreat House direct 01245 237251.
